Sony Ericsson has its Xperia series whereas Samsung has Galaxy series for phones that run on Android operating system. Similarly, LG has also launched its Android powered handsets under the name of Optimus series and has created a niche for itself with these phones. The company launched its first Optimus phone in India in August 2010 and since then, it has introduced more than five variants under this series.

The first LG Optimus GT540 Smartphone was powered by Android v1.6 with LG's custom S-Class User Interface and offered a series of applications from news and weather to games, Google Mail, Google Maps, Google Talk, Google Search and social networking apps including Facebook and micro blogging site Twitter.

The new Smartphone from LG was supported by Android 2.2 OS version, offered smoother Internet browsing, Web-page loading, application pop-ups, multi-tasking and 40 pre-loaded applications. LG Optimus one also has a 3 megapixel camera, 2 GB Memory, GPRS, EDGE and its stunning looks were just an ad on to the phone loaded with supreme features.

Thereafter, LG launched Optimus Me P350 came in April this year. This phone was also powered by Android 2.2 and was quite similar to Optimus One. Optimus Me targeted youth as its price was kept low and the phone also offered five battery covers of different colors along with the phone.

On the applications front, you always have the huge Android Market Place for you. Otherwise also, these phones come pre-loaded with plethora of utility and entertainment applications. What’s more? All the new Optimus series phones will come pre-loaded with Angry Bird Rio. LG has recently tied up with Fox Digital Entertainment and Rovio Mobile to bring out these Smartphone’s with the famous game pre-loaded onto them.

The best thing about the Optimus series is that is gives you best value for money. The phones are priced in very nominal range from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 13,000.

LG has now launched first dual core Android Smartphone Optimus 2X, which is priced at approximately Rs.25000. The phone is available with nVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and comes with 8mega pixel camera. Now, after the success of earlier Optimus phones, it’ll be interesting to watch whether Optimus 2X would be able to dent the market of other Smartphone’s in the same price bracket.
