“With Smartphone market on a surge, Samsung is coming in with a lot of gadgets a per the need of Indian consumer"

Samsung could certainly be called a giant killer of the Indian mobile handset industry. The company was standing at a very low market share half a decade ago. But currently it is enjoying a share of more than 20 percent in the market. The credit cannot be taken away from its ‘Corby’ and ‘Star’ series, which provided amazing phones at low prices in comparison to Nokia, the leader of Indian handset industry. Now, the company has about 15 Smartphone’s in its repertoire and out them, two run on Samsung’s own operating system Bada.

Samsung Wave was the one that created buzz in the market with its elegant looks and exciting features. Wave was the first phone to run on the Bada OS and has been quite successful in the niche market. It offered features like 3.3 inches Super Amoled screen for delightful viewing experience. On the multimedia front, the phone is loaded with Email, integrated social networking with Facebook, Twitter and other sites, instant messaging etc. The Samsung App store is full of games and apps ranging from entertainment applications to utility apps like GPS navigation, grocery manager etc. The phone also has a 5 MP camera with LED flash and is supported with features like face detection, geo tagging etc. It also has an image editor to crop and edit the images in the phone and upload them directly on the social networking sites. You can also record High Definition videos with the phone.

After the success of Wave, the company came up with and advanced version of Wave, named as Samsung Wave 2. I have used this phone and can vouch for it anytime over the others in the same price bracket. The features are almost similar between the Wave 2 and its predecessor. However, the viewing experience gets bigger and consequently better as the Wave 2 has a 3.7 inches Amoled screen in comparison to 3.3 inches in the former. The speed is also a difference as the Wave 2 has a processor of 1GHz whereas this lacks in Wave.

I have used Wave 2 and the only drawback I felt was The Samsung Application store is not as diverse as Android and Ovi but it will surely pick up fast in the near future. The gaming experience with motion sensor is mind blowing on Wave 2.

The two phones add an astonishing value to the gamut of mid-segment Smartphone’s by Samsung and would surely strengthen Samsung’s market share, as the company expects to have 40% handset market share in India by the end of this year.
